marcy
gold: about the artist
A native New Yorker, I graduated from Philadelphia College of Art
with a BFA in Illustration Design. A successful freelance
illustrator in New York City for over 20 years, I worked in
traditional media, specializing in pen and ink for the following
clients: The New York Times, Newsweek, Redbook, McCall's, Saturday
Review, Travel & Leisure, Scholastic Publications, American Express,
Citibank, Macy's, Barnes & Noble, Bantam Doubleday Dell, Young &
Rubicam, Grey Advertising, Ogilvy & Mather, NBC-TV, ABC-TV, Warner
Brothers, Clinique, & Elizabeth Arden.
I was a Featured Illustrator in an article about my work in the
distinguished graphic design publication, Print Magazine. My
illustrations were exhibited in many prestigious, juried Society of
Illustrators' Annual Shows in New York City. These exhibits
feature the best national illustrations of the year, which are then
published in the Society of Illustrators' Annual fine art book.
I received two Society of Illustrators' Awards of Merit for my
art in these shows.
Having worked for The Sun-Sentinel, a major South Florida
newspaper-a Tribune company, and McCann-Erickson Advertising
as a graphic designer, I now combine my illustration with computer
graphics. A photographer as well as an artist, I create digital
montages with photographic imagery and type, and write my own
conceptual art copy.
My work has been influenced by thirty years of yoga meditation. I am a
teacher of meditation and a Certified Reiki Healing Master &
Teacher. My latest series of Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu Meditation
Mandalas speak directly to the soul and the spirit of everyone
regardless of their spiritual tradition.
marcy gold: statement
"As a spiritual seeker, a long-time student of meditation and a Reiki
healer, I want my art to uplift the spirit through beauty and
elegance. I do this through the expression of metaphysically symbolic
themes. Just as our very essence is hidden in our hearts & souls, my
message lies within the multi-layered images of my digital art &
photographic montages. My greatest wish is that my art will bless all
who see it."
Vision is the art of seeing things invisible.
