  Homeless Veterans
VFW Magazine.
This story was written for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Magazine. It spotlights the plight of returning American veterans who end up lost and living on the street. In flushing out the story, I interviewed health care professionals as well as Korea and Vietnam veterans. I visited numerous homeless shelters and spoke with veterans who were trying to reenter society as productive citizens. In some instances, there are parallels with today's veterans returning from Iraq.

  Women, America's Invisible Veterans
Veterans of Foreign Wars Magazine. I spent considerable time and research locating American women who had served as nurses in Vietnam. In my interviews with them, I found that many are psychologically damaged. Some would not talk to me. Though most are now mothers with sons of their own, many of these women continue to suffer the trauma of triage nurses. While up to their elbows in blood, they could not save all the young men who died in their arms.
